I don’t know what retrospectus means, I just wanted to use it in a title. Continue reading HorrorHound Weekend Cincinnati 2013 – a retrospectus

that Hawksian style (updated with video!)
Last weekend was the spring edition of HorrorHound Weekend, a convention where fans can meet their favorite stars of horror film and television. I attended purely in a fan aspect, although one of these days, it might be cool to attend in a more…scholarly…approach, so I can do a bunch of write-ups for this here blorgf. I do have a separate write-up for the weekend overall – that’s coming soon – but for now, I want to focus on one of the guests at HHW who happens to be my favorite director: Continue reading that Hawksian style (updated with video!)
it is time again. time enough at last.
So this weekend is HorrorHound Weekend, the Spring Edition. I got my haircut, and I am trying to pack as light as possible because this year I cannot drive myself due to CAR ACCIDENT. Continue reading it is time again. time enough at last.
hey hey ho ho
Hello there. I have been incognitus for a short while, due to commitments outside of writing blog posts for you. A multitude of things. I also realized that my last blog post could have served as a goodbye of some kind, and ha ha ha, you can’t get rid of me that easily. Suckers. So I thought I would maybe update you on what I’ve been doing lately!
must/mustn’t watch cinema
So as you might have surmised, I am a great lover of film. I’ve hardly met a movie where I didn’t find at least something enjoyable or redeeming about it. Even the really terrible films might have a so-bad-it’s-good kind of quality, or there might have been one standout performance, or maybe one set piece that was very well done in all the awfulness. But then there are films that have a subject matter that, even though I found myself really connecting with the movie, I have an incredibly hard time recommending them to other people. These are films that are obviously going to be hard for other people to watch, usually because of the violence. Continue reading must/mustn’t watch cinema
the best stuff i watched in 2012
So I’ve been meaning to make a list of some of the better films I watched in 2012. Since it’s almost February 2013, why not now? This list is not solely comprised of movies that came out in 2012, so’s ya knows, just some of the good stuff that got piped into my eyeballs last year. Continue reading the best stuff i watched in 2012
long time, no talk
Oh hi. I have been away from this blog for a very long time, due to several reasons, including blogging for the October Horror Challenge and also working on an essay for a project that’s under wraps for right now (although I can’t stop talking about it – bad anna bad!). But it’s almost the end of the year now, so I should maybe do one of those end-of-year wrap ups. Okay. Sure. Continue reading long time, no talk
radio silence, please!
Hello. I’ve been away for a long time, but that’s because I’ve been cheating on you. A little. Not really. Well, kind of. Continue reading radio silence, please!
i’m sorry i said some things one time whatever
Okay. Once upon a time, I made a blarf post full of Completely True* Facts about Micky Dolenz. These facts were all recorded by me and my fellow historian, Rev. Back It On Up of Simian Idiot, as well as a couple of guest historians. But the thing is, these facts weren’t so much “facts” as they were “shit that was fucking funny as hell and probably not very factual, OBVIOUSLY.” People blew their goddamn lids, because apparently MD didn’t invent the internet, nor is he my grandmother. Huh. Learn something new, etc. Continue reading i’m sorry i said some things one time whatever
a moment of silence
Apologies in advance, this won’t likely be the usual type of post, with jokes and whatnots.
So coming soon to be cross-posted here are posts for the October Horror Challenge, which is more or less exactly what it sounds like. It’s a month-long challenge to watch at least 31 horror films, 16 of which have to be first time views. People are gearing up for the Challenge, in particular, my dear friend Christianne Benedict from Krell Laboratories, who has designed the official blog images for this year’s Challenge, and is also currently doing a fundraiser to attend Fantastic Fest, so go check that out!
