Sometimes I just don’t know what possesses me. Today, I was thinking about the upcoming John Ford Blogathon that Christianne of Krell Laboratories and I are going to host in July. I was trying to suss out how I would approach the collection of Ford’s films, finally deciding to attack it in chronological order, despite Christi recommending I begin with My Darling Clementine (1946) and How Green Was My Valley (1941) [sorry, C!]. Godzillas and Monsters

Welcome to the Year of Godzilla, in this, the Second Year of Luigi. It is the 60th anniversary of Godzilla’s first screen appearance, a 1954 eponymous debut which was later recut for US audiences and given the eye-catching title Godzilla: King of the Monsters!, exclamation point and all. And now, there’s a new entry in a long-running collection of films about and featuring the giant atomic lizard, another Hollywood-produced bit of early summer blockbustery. This year is over, and like everyone says at the end of pretty much every year, good riddance. No, that’s not right. It wasn’t a bad year at all! Every year has good and bad things that happen. Noirvember and the upcoming holidays

2013 is almost over. Thank maude, because while this year had a bang-up beginning, it’s looking to end with a whimper. Onward and upward. November is when many folks in the United States celebrate Thanksgiving, on a late Thursday in the month, although Christmas hovers over everything from about 1 October through the actual holiday itself. facelift

As you might have noticed, or not, I changed the theme of the blog. I don’t know why I would do such a silly thing. Actually, I do. It’s because I’m a fusspot, and I’m never exactly happy for long with any one look or layout. Besides, I had the old theme for long enough.

I’m still figuring out this whole blog thing. Like how you truncate posts on your front page so the whole thing doesn’t hog up the entire timeline. Yeah, I’m sure there’s a simple way to figure that out, but I’d like to discover it on my own. Or just get frustrated enough that I’ll ask someone. Continue reading facelift
